Driving a Lexus is always inspirational - but it’s not often that our peerless technological innovations influence original food dishes. However, it was our inspiration that motivated master chef, Yoji Tokuyoshi to craft brand new tasting experiences. It’s all part of ‘An Encounter with Anticipation’ – a remarkable presentation by Lexus at Milan Design Week.
The multiple Michelin star-winning chef created unique dishes, ‘Buoyancy’ and ‘Transparent’ for visitors to sample at the show. Both dishes were inspired by pure water – the sole by-product of the hydrogen fuel cell technology used by the pulse-racing Lexus LF-FC luxury concept car. Another influence is the Japanese hospitality traditions of Omotenashi which inform how we design outstanding cars that accommodate the driver’s every need.
The culinary skills of Yoji Tokuyoshi complement the specially commissioned installation crafted by the design studio, Formafantasma. He explains his thinking: “Looking at the LF-FC concept car and getting to understand how the fuel cell makes use of hydrogen energy, I decided to make water the motif for my tasting experience to create something amazing that can be integrated into Formafantasma’s installation.”
The installation and its accompanying dishes can be experienced at the Spazio Lexus – Torneria in Milan from April 12 to 17.
